Daniel Axehill
Daniel Axehill is a Professor in Automatic Control at the Division of Automatic Control at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University. He started his graduate studies in February 2003 after completing his M.Sc. degree in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering (Y) at Linköping University. Daniel received his Lic.Eng. degree in December 2005. The Licentiate's thesis can be found here. Daniel received his PhD degree in February 2008. The thesis is available from here. Daniel held a post-doc position at the Automatic Control Laboratory at ETH Zurich from January 2009 until November 2010. In 2014, he became an Associate Professor (sv. universitetslektor) in Automatic Control at LiU. He became a Docent in September 2015. Since 2017, he has held a Senior Associate Professor's (sv. biträdande professor) position in Automatic Control at LiU. He became a full professor in February 2024. He has been the main supervisor of four graduated Ph.Ds, co-supervisor of two graduated Ph.Ds, and the main supervisor of eight graduated Lic.Engs. He is currently the main supervisor of two Ph.D. students, the co-supervisor of one Ph.D. student, and the supervisor of one post-doc.
Research
Daniel's research areas are Model Predictive Control (MPC), optimization, and motion planning. Currently the MPC research is focused on problems related to real-time MPC. Ongoing research relates to efficient linear algebra for on-line algorithms, parametric programming, parallel computations, as well as real-time constrained optimization. The research about motion planning includes theoretical aspects, algorithms, and applications. Current industry research partners are Scania CV and Saab Dynamics. Daniel's research is/has been financed by the Swedish Research Council, ELLIIT, EOARD, FFI, and WASP/KAW. For more details, see his research page.
